Managing Professional Boundaries

The course will provide an introduction to the concepts of ethics, ethical practice and boundaries as they relate to counseling and the therapeutic relationship. The definition, role, variation and importance of boundaries will be discussed, as well as ways to distinguish between a boundary extension and boundary violation. American Counseling Association Code of Ethics (2014) will be reviewed for several topics relative to boundaries, to include: confidentiality, multiple relationship, gifts, and social media.

 

This session has been approved for 1.25 hours at the LSW, LMSW & LCSW levels by the National Association of Social Workers- Idaho Chapter and may be applied toward continuing education requirement for social work renewal.
